NEET-UG Cutoff for MBBS Direct Admission in Karnataka
The NEET UG exam 2026, which was planned to be held on May 03, 2026, has been cancelled by NTA on the grounds of leaked question papers. The Re-NEET 2026 exam is officially declared to be held on June 21, 2026. There is no need for already registered students to register again, and NEET exam dates have been released for everyone involved.

Eligibility Criteria for Direct MBBS Admission in Karnataka
If you are willing to enroll for MBBS Direct Admission in Karnataka through Management Quota or NRI Quota seats, you must follow the below criteria:
- You should have passed second PUC or 10+2 or equivalent examination recognized by State / Central Government, the last two years of study shall comprise of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject.
- You should have passed these subjects (PCB) individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in PCB (40% in the case of SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka State).
- You should have complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of Admission.
- You must have appear in the NEET-UG Entrance Exam conducted by the NTA and also have secured the minimum qualifying marks.
Besides all the above-mentioned criteria, it is compulsory that you should register yourself for the Karnataka NEET Counselling conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) or Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for MBBS Direct Admission in Karnataka Deemed Medical Colleges.
Process for MBBS Direct Admission in Karnataka
Before NEET-UG Exam, it was very simple to get MBBS Direct Admission in Karnataka under Management Quota or NRI Quota seats even if you don’t appear for the Entrance Exam. All you needed was basic eligibility criteria for studying MBBS and paying the MBBS Management Quota fees to the respective colleges.
But the scenario has changed and now getting MBBS Direct Admission in Karnataka under Management Quota or NRI Quota is not easy as it used to be before. Even for Management Quota or NRI Quota, now you will need to appear in NEET-UG Exam and score qualifying marks in order to get admission in any MBBS College in Karnataka.
Let us here discuss some important steps for getting MBBS Direct Admission in Karnataka through Management Quota or NRI Quota and this procedure can also be applied in case of other states.
Step 01: Qualifying NEET-UG Exam
In order to get MBBS Admission in anywhere in India, you have to appear and qualify NEET-UG Exam. Even if you want MBBS Direct Admission in Karnataka through Management Quota or NRI Quota you have to qualify NEET-UG Exam.
Step 02: Register for Counselling Process
Once you have qualified the NEET-UG Exam, and now the second step you have to follow is register for counselling process conducted by the state or central authorities.
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of India is the central authority that is conducting counselling process for Deemed Medical Colleges and 50% of seats in all Government Medical Colleges across the country.
Every state has their own counselling process for remaining 50% of seats in the Government Medical Colleges and the Private Medical Colleges available in the state.
In some states, candidate across the country is eligible to attend the counselling process for Private Medical Colleges whereas some states don’t allow, they need to have domicile of the respective state.
Let’s say you want to take MBBS Admission in Karnataka then you have to register for KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority) for the counselling process.
Note: This is an important and compulsory step, even if you want MBBS Direct Admission in Karnataka through Management Quota or NRI Quota.
On registration, you have to pay some registration fee ranging from 5,000/- to 2,00,000/-. This registration fee will be different for type of medical colleges you are willing to join, such as if you are only interested in Govt. Medical Colleges then it would be 5,000/- or if you are interested for Deemed Medical Colleges then it would be 2,00,000/- and if you are interested to apply for both then it would be 2,05,000/-
Step 03: Documents Verification Process
After registration for counselling process, you will be called for documents verification that may be online or offline depending upon the current situation.
If it will be online, you just need to upload all said documents in the portal and you will be notified in the dashboard of the portal once your documents will be verified.
Let’s say if it will be offline, then you need to carry your all necessary documents (originals and xerox) with you at the verification centres given by the state authority where the official will verify your documents and give you a verification confirmation slip.
Step 04: Counselling Round I
Once you have done with Registration and Document Verification, then you will be allowed to login the portal with your login credentials which you got on registration and select the colleges as per your choice.
After selecting the colleges, you have to lock your choices and submit, and then you have to wait for the result declaration.
If you have been allotted to any college among your choices which you can see in the portal after login into it, and then you have report to the allotted college, else you have to wait for the Counselling Round II.
Step 05: Counselling Round II
This is same as the Counselling Round I, here also you need to repeat the same which you have done in the Counselling Round I. In this round of counselling also if you couldn’t be able to get allotment into any colleges of your choices you can wait for the MOP-UP Round.
Step 06: MOP-UP Round
The vacant or left over seats after the second round of counselling process are filled through MOP-UP round. Earlier this MOP-UP round happened offline, and you need to present at the counselling centre to participate in the MOP-UP round.
But now, MOP-UP round is happening online conducted by the respective state counselling authority and MCC for deemed medical colleges.
Still If you couldn’t get seat into any Medical College in the MOP-UP round. You can try for MBBS Direct Admission in the Management Quota or NRI Quota seats.
Step 07: Stray Vacancy Round
This round is same as the MOP-UP round; students didn’t get any allotment they can participate in this round but again this is also done by the respective state counselling authorities.
Step 08: MBBS Direct Admission in Karnataka by Colleges
If there are vacant seats after MOP-UP and Stray Vacancy round, those seats are transferred to the Management of the College and these seats allotted to you by the College itself which will done in offline/online mode.
