NEET-UG 2026
NEET-UG 2026 has been conducted on 03rd May 2026 in around more than 500 cities across India and abroad over a single day and slot. The duration of the exam is 180 minutes, or 3 hours, scheduled from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, has been cancelled by NTA on the grounds of leaked question papers.
The Re-NEET 2026 conducted on 21st June 2026, in 5440 centres throughout India and 14 centers overseas, and the same has been conducted with utmost security measures in place due to concerns of leakage in the original NEET 2026 examination that was conducted on 03rd May 2026.
This time candidates got 15 minutes extra for completion of documentation, verification, and other examination-related formalities.
Over 22.79 lakhs candidates registered for NEET-UG 2026, and about 22.75 lakhs candidates had downloaded admit card for the 03rd May 2026 examination and eventually 22.05 lakhs appeared.
NTA did not release the exact number of candidates who downloaded admit cards or appeared for the Re-NEET Exam on 21st June 2026, but more than 20 lakhs candidates appeared for the examination.

Who is an NRI Candidate?
Candidate living in foreign and looking forward to joining the medical courses in India should be qualified the eligibility criteria of the NRI candidates. In case they meet the right criteria, then only they are considered as the NRI candidate.

Fee structure for MBBS direct admission in NRI Quota seats is differs from college to college and from state to state in India, some of the states also provide MBBS admission in NRI quota in Government as well as Private medical colleges.
Some of the states like Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Himanchal Pradesh and Pondicherry provide NRI quota seats in both the Government medical colleges as well as in Private medical colleges.

Only Private Medical Colleges and Deemed Universities in Karnataka offer MBBS direct admission under NRI quota seats, and there are no NRI quota seats in any government medical colleges of Karnataka.
As per the latest update of NMC (National Medical Commission), Karnataka is currently having around 50 private medical colleges including Deemed Universities and Autonomous or Private Universities. These Private Medical Colleges of Karnataka offer approximately 9845 MBBS Seats every year.
